Dr. Gracy is a lifetime member of the Texas State Historical Association, a non-profit organization which seeks to put out publications, writings, and conduct research with the aim of creating a strong body of historical material for educational purposes. Dr. Gracy has been involved with the TSHA for many years, and in many capacities, which are listed below:

Editorial Assistant on the Southwestern Historical Quarterly and as Associate Editor of The Junior Historian; conducted research on entries for the Handbook of Texas, 1963-1966

Bibliography advisory board, The New Handbook of Texas, 1988-1994
