Abstract: New Media Installations bring forward a whole new set of challenges for conservators, whose role must be re-designed and re-established. This paper is an overview of the conservation issues raised by the care of time-based media installations; it is intended to provide conservators with a snapshot of the current situation and to introduce new terms and concepts making their way into the conservation lexicon.
