Abstract: This paper examines aspects of police work with recorded evidence and its implications for the preservation community and presents a case study of one local police department's audiovisual collections. It also explores the relevance of archival theory and practice to police evidence handling, and suggests ways in which archives and law enforcement communities may work to mutual advantage.
