Abstract: DROID is a utility from the National Archives (UK) that identifies an object's file format using the PRONOM registry (http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/pronom/).
Description: This version of DROID was downloaded from http://droid.sourceforge.net/ on 1 August 2007. It is a Java-based, platform independent tool, and installers have been provided for both Windows and Mac. It has been released under a BSD license. System requirements: Java Runtime Environment 1.4.2 or later. Documentation is available at http://droid.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Download as well as in a separate item in this tool collection.
