Doctoral Studies

The Center is keenly interested in attracting and mentoring doctoral students. The relatively young preservation field is ripe with exciting research possibilities; the School of Information, centered within one of the largest research institutions in the world, is an ideal environment for pursuing the uniquely interdisciplinary topics related to preserving the cultural record.

Two of the Center's recent graduates in preservation administration, Maria Esteva and Maria Gonzalez, are now doctoral students in the School of Information. They received their Masters and certificates in preservation administration from the School of Information. Both are pursuing doctoral research topics in preservation. Kevin Auer is a doctoral student in the UT Austin History Department and is pursuing a Certificate of Advanced Study in conservation. His research interest is in book history.

Please contact us by phone (512) 471-8290 or e-mail ( if you plan to apply for a Certificate of Advanced Study.
